Growth and maintaining:
The first year of your new family member’s life is the most expensive. In addition to good quality food (we recommend premium or super premium dry food), vitamins are also necessary for harmonious growth. Calcium supliments to support bone growth, which every other breed of the size of the Bucovina Romanian Shepherd have need, as well as joint support supplements, which is the biggest need of a large growing giant puppy.

Administration of supplements
Administration of supplements will be done under the guidance of the breeder and the recommendation of the veterinarian. For all of these there is an administration scheme. If they are administered poorly or too much, they will have the opposite effect to the desired one.
Apart from food and supplements, we must pay special attention to the vaccination schedule and deworming and fleas/thicks treatment. A complete vaccination schedule includes 5 vaccines and internal deworming is done every 3 months. Treatmeant for fleas and thicks must be done according to the used product(1-8 months).

Needs of this breed:
Love, people and property to protect, enough space for running or long walks daily.

Health:
The health problems which can affect Romanian Bucovina Shepherd are: gastric torsion, like any other dog of its size; Elbow or hip dysplasia which is mostly hereditary or in very few cases is acquired due to the inattention of the breeder.
What is dysplasia?
In everyone’s understanding, it is the “disease of the large joints” that can be diagnosed after the age of one year or more, being categorized according to its severity. Affected joints are: Elbow and knee joint (ED) and hip joint (HD). This represents a defect in the alignment of the ends of the bones in the related cavity. A dog with HD-A, ED-0 dysplasia test results is a perfectly healthy dog from this point of view. Dysplasia can also be acquired if the breeder does not pay attention to the development space of the puppies and they grow up in a slippery place, a fact that causes too much laxity of the joints. It can also be acquired during the ossification of the joints (up to 4-5 months) if the puppy is subjected to too much daily effort.
In order to prevent as much as possible specimens with a high degree of dysplasia, ACHR (Romanian Kennel Association) has made dysplasia tests mandatory for obtaining the right to mount this breed.
Many other info you can find just google it or asking a veterinary doctor.
Our puppies:
Leave us with the vaccination schedule and deworming up to date. If they leave the country, they will do so only after 21 days have passed since the anti-rabies vaccine (the last one in the scheme). They will always be accompanied by the health card, performance card and pedigree (Romanian Certificate of Origin) issued by the F.C.I. (International Cynological Federation). In addition to all this, you will also receive brochures with information about raising your new puppy, as well as support from us throughout the life of the puppy.
Temperament:
The Bucovina Romanian Shepherd is a loyal dog to its family and a very good protector and guard of the yard where it lives. He is very attentive and unfriendly to strangers, although with the owner’s consent he will accept them in the yard. A dog that will seek the attention of its master and is particularly active at night when it comes to guarding. A dog you want as a friend and never as an enemy.
